Dave Fildes

Dave - born 11th May 1949 - started his Mountain Rescue career with the Llandudno Junction Youth Club Mountain Rescue Team in 1969. His first rescue came when his team were called out to support the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team on a search. By 1971 he had graduated to becoming a full member of the Ogwen team where he served for many years. He held the position of Treasurer and Newsletter editor during his time with Ogwen. He also was a team scrounger and fund raiser acquiring funds   and technological equipment at little or no cost.

During part of the 1990’s he stood back from direct involvement with mountain rescue but never lost touch with Ogwen. He served on the first few annual committees of the Ogwen support group 333.

In 2001 Dave returned to active involvement by joining North East Wales Search & Rescue. He has held the position of 200 Club Organiser, Fund Raising Officer and Team Chairman. He has also been involved with the development and acquisition of a permanent team base which came to fruition in 2008.

Dave has a long standing association with SARDA Wales as a body and a trainee handler and is an honorary member of SARDA Wales. He has also served as the body coordinator.

Regionally Dave helps to run and train on the Annual North Wales Mountain Rescue Association (NWMRA) Search Skills Course. He represents NWMRA as the Finance representative to Mountain Rescue England & Wales (MREW).

Nationally Dave serves on the MREW National Fund Raising Group.
